The Burrow: An FAU Basketball Fan Guide
This is not simply another Boca Raton event listing. The building has housed FAU men’s basketball since 1988, while its court and arena names reflect two later gifts to the university.

Why FAU Fans Call It The Burrow
FAU Arena first welcomed women’s basketball in 1984; the men’s program and volleyball moved in during 1988. The longtime nickname “The Burrow” remains the clearest link between the building and the Owls, even as the formal name has changed.
BUILDING STORY
A 2,900-Seat Arena with Several Eras
The 2,900-seat facility received a $10 million modernization in 2007, including a new roof, refreshed locker rooms and lobby, chair-back seats and a video scoreboard. The court took the Abessinio name in 2019, and FAU renamed the arena for Eleanor R. Baldwin in 2022.
